Now, to be completely fair, there are enough reasons to be skeptical about the long-gestating adaptation of Norman Partridge's 2006 novel Dark Harvest, given that it was shot several years ago and has since had its release date pulled numerous times.

But on the other hand, it's directed by David Slade (30 Days of Night, Black Mirror) and penned by Michael Gilio, who previously co-wrote Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.

The trailer in the very least suggests an enticingly creepy, stylish, and atmospheric slasher, as a sleepy town faces off against a malevolent entity known as "Sawtooth Jack."

MGM may not have much confidence in it, but it looks like a fun ride regardless.
