"Sophie "inherits" her uncle's preserved whale and finds out that whoever sleeps in the whale's belly with her will be granted one wish. That causes chaos and hatred in the village." Right. Not really much you can add to that description; it just kind of speaks for itself.
1. Thunderpants (2002)
"An 11-year-old boy's amazing ability to break wind leads him first to fame and then to death row, before it helps him to fulfill his ambition of becoming an astronaut." That description is just a rollercoaster ride from start to finish. Most importantly, this film co-stars RON WEASLEY. Considering it also features people like Stephen Fry and Paul Giamatti, Thunderpants may not actually be that obscure. But as far as movie descriptions go, there really could be no other number one.
