20 Opening Movie Scenes That Are Totally Flawless

17. Bloody Rave - Blade (1998)

New Line Cinema

The film that set the foundations for the 21st century superhero boom, Blade was directed to perfection by Stephen Norrington and features countless action sequences which still hold up brilliantly to this day.

Though it isn't quite the best action scene (that honour goes to Blade's final stand-off against Frost), the opening sequence is undoubtedly the most unforgettable moment in the movie, following an unsuspecting man who's brought to a blood-soaked rave populated by vampires.

As the music becomes more frantic, blood begins to pour from the sprinklers in the ceiling, causing the man to attempt to flee before Blade (Wesley Snipes) turns up and crashes the party.

Relentlessly violent and uber-cool, the first scene makes sure to open the unconventional superhero flick with style to spare, whilst showing off just how badass its title character is going to be.
