17. Peter Quill Isn't Fully Human (Guardians Of The Galaxy)

At the end of Guardians of the Galaxy, after Peter Quill had withstood the power of the Infinity Stone known as the Orb, the Nova Corps informed him of something quite shocking. The revelation was that he wasn't completely human and that he had an alien father - that was the reason that he was able to contain the Orb's power without simply being turned to mist, as no mere human could do that. There is no doubt that this will lead to the reveal of his father in Phase 3 - in Guardians Of The Galaxy 2, of course. In the comic books, Quill's father is J'Son of Spartax - a centuries-old being who is the King of the Spartoi Empire - but it is said that the Marvel Cinematic Universe version is going to have a different father. Theories about his father's identity range from Adam Warlock to Loki and it will certainly be interesting to see who it turns out to be.
