10. Albert Finney
Sadly, at the age of 76, Albert Finney's Oscar chances are diminishing with every passing year. The Finney hey-day occurred in the 70's and 80's, a fruitful period which netted him 3 Oscar nominations for Best Actor. Overall in his career, Finney has gained 5 Oscar nominations, for Tom Jones, Murder On The Orient Express, A Sir In The Dresser , Under The Volcano, and more recently, Erin Brockovich. But without any wins, you would assume (or hope) that the Academy are seriously considering an honorary Oscar for Finney. Finney has been awarded a great array of Golden Globes, Emmys, SAG Awards and theatre awards alike throughout his colourful career, but inexplicably no Oscar. He has had such a vibrant acting career, spanning over 5 decades, that one just assumes he has picked up an Oscar or two in that time. But now, with age becoming a factor, he hasn't received an Oscar nomination for over 12 years. However, he has shown the general public he still has it, with his most recent turn as Kincade in Sam Mendes' Skyfall. Perhaps over 40 years of Oscar heartbreak haven't troubled Finney too much, because the five-time Oscar loser has only ever turned up to one Oscar's ceremony!
