The fact that Julianne Moore has never won an Oscar, despite being one of the greatest American living actresses is further proof of the Academy's incompetence. She has accumulated four Oscar nominations as of 2012, for films such as Boogie Nights, Far From Heaven and The Hours. However, unfortunately she has never converted these nominations into victories. She has had her fair slice of bad luck in her career, so with the right timing a victory could still be a realistic prospect. In 2003, Moore lost out to a previous co-star (Nicole Kidman), when she was snubbed of a worthy Oscar win for her passionate performance as Cathy Whitaker in Far From Heaven. She has also appeared in other big box office hits such as Magnolia and The Big Lebowski and these such appearances have endowed her as one of America's most popular actresses. Also, her recent turn as politician Sarah Palin in HBO television film Game Change was met with rave reviews, earning her a Golden Globe. So at 50, it appears as though Moore still has acting legs in her, and it is far too early to be writing her Oscar obituary.
