How this legend of cinema has never won an Oscar I will never comprehend. He was robbed of an Oscar in 1994, after putting in a career defining performance as Jules in Quentin Tarantino's cult hit Pulp Fiction and believe it or not, this has been his only Oscar nomination to date! The lack of nominations for such an icon of cinema is a travesty in its own right. Jackson has starred in over 100 movies in his career and he has put in consistently top class performances in the majority of those films. So, the only reason I can think of for his Oscar duck, is that he rarely plays a lead part in a movie and often finds himself in a cameo or supporting role. However, even this should not obstruct him from at least a Supporting Actor Oscar he so deserves. His turn in Spike Lee's 1991 hit Jungle Fever stands out to me as what should have been a shoe-in for an Oscar nomination. I'm not the only person who is baffled by Jackson's Oscar allusion. Popular Rapper 5o Cent stated that "Jackson is probably the world's most underrated actor," and the music star like so many others, can't understand why such a great American idol has yet to claim gold at the annual event. I tell you what, if Jackson doesn't get awarded an honorary Oscar at least, I will personally strike down vengeance on the Academy for their insolence. The man is a legend. Always will be.
