The horrifying climax of The Godfather Part II is Fredo Corleone's (John Cazale) murder at the behest of his brother Michael (Al Pacino), while he's out on a fishing boat.

Nobody who's seen the movie will forget this scene or the beautifully bleak cinematography accompanying Fredo's demise, further signalling Michael's downward spiral as yet another close family member is taken out of the frame.

It's probably the most haunting scene in the entire saga, and is shot like a horror movie to match. Sheer brilliance on the part of Francis Ford Coppola and DP Gordon Willis.
