20 Predictions For 2018's Rotten Tomatoes Scores
16. Alita: Battle Angel (59%)
Predicted Critical Consensus: "Alita: Battle Angel soars thanks to dazzling visual effects and Rosa Salazar's committed performance, in spite of the piecemeal narrative and Robert Rodriguez's inconsistent direction."
Though a sizeable portion of the Internet has a hate-boner for this movie, and it's quite likely to be one of 2018's biggest box office bombs, on its own terms it actually doesn't look that bad at all.
James Cameron serving as producer at least instils some hope that the end result will be a serviceable, effects-driven action extravaganza, even if the idea of Robert Rodriguez (Sin City, Machete) handling a $200 million budget is undeniably eyebrow-raising.
The likely messy narrative will be mitigated by the incredible visuals, resulting in mixed reviews across the board. It's going to be this year's Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, basically.
