Predicted Critical Consensus: "Steven Spielberg typically delivers with this stylish, well-acted love letter to classic pop-culture, even if its narrative never quite lives up to its gorgeous visuals."

It's fair to say that Ready Player One probably isn't another classic Spielberg movie in the making, but considering how few critically rotten movies the director has to his name - his last was The Lost World - Jurassic Park in 1997 - there's little chance it's anything less than a rock solid effects-driven tentpole.

Though it's probable that the movie's clear reliance on nostalgia will rub some critics the wrong way, the sharp visual style, appealing cast and Spielberg's characteristic directorial flair should ensure it's a well-received romp for the most part.
