20 Predictions For This Oscar Season's Rotten Tomatoes Scores
5. Patriot's Day (47%)
Predicted Critical Consensus: "Though it sometimes captures the brutal tragedy of a real-life catastrophe, Patriot's Day too often strains for genuine emotion and instead gets wrapped up in cloying sentimentality."
Peter Berg just might be spreading himself a little too thin with two Wahlberg-starring movies based on recent real-life events, and though it's easy to see the big-budget appeal of something like an oil rig explosion, not quite so much a terrorist attack that took place during a marathon.
Is there really much desire to see this put to the screen? Will it end up coming off as preachy and jingoistic (going by the already tacky marketing campaign)? It's just hard to have much interest in it even though it's undeniably shooting for awards with its December platform release date.
