If you ever want a handy example of inflation in relation to supply and demand, then get into a taxi on the Croisette without organising a fee in advance, and ask to be driven two miles. If you do this four or five times using the same taxi firm, from the same pick up point, you'll not get two fares the same.

For some of the less well-versed attendees who stay slightly outside of Cannes, getting a taxi back to your digs (rather than the 1 Euro bus) means taking your finances into potentially perilous waters, with the more cheeky drivers squeezing a frankly obscene amount out of you.
