3. Not Making Al Pacino Overact - The Ritual

Fantastic Four
XYZ Films

Expectations were pretty much through the floor for The Ritual, because despite being an exorcism movie starring Al Pacino and Dan Stevens, distributor XYZ Films barely marketed it at all and screened it for just a small handful of critics pre-release.

While the film was unsurprisingly panned by most, there was at least the curiosity of Pacino's casting to consider, that as German-American priest Father Theophilus Riesinger, the legendary actor would be given free rein to ham it up for the cheap seats and give an all-timer rendition of Al Pacino Overacting.

But the big surprise here is that Pacino strangely plays the role totally straight, giving a gloomy dramatic performance that's probably the furthest thing from what most people watching a Pacino exorcism movie actually wanted.

And so, a low-energy Pacino only makes this already snoozy horror flick even more of a dull chore to get through.
