20 Rotten Tomatoes Predictions For 2023's Biggest Movies
11. Fast X (51%)
2021's F9 was the first critically Rotten entry into the series since 2009's Fast and Furious, though with 59% on the Tomatometer, only just.
Yet the mixed response seemed to indicate growing audience fatigue with the series and its increasingly ridiculous array of set-pieces, plot twists, and random new family members.
And after F9 literally took things to space, is there really anywhere else left to go?
Even with a stacked ensemble cast including the new likes of Brie Larson, Jason Momoa, Rita Moreno, and Daniela Melchior, it's sensible to be suspicious of the film's troubled production, what with franchise director Justin Lin quitting just a week into shooting amid disagreements with star-producer Vin Diesel.
Lin's replacement, Louis Leterrier, hasn't directed a critically Fresh film since 2008's The Incredible Hulk, with four consecutive Rotten movies to his name in its wake.
Plus, with the divisive early response to reports that the film will see a certain former character return to the franchise, along with rumours that Paul Walker's Brian O'Conner may appear via VFX wizardry, there are many reasons that critics could be left more irritated than entertained.
A down-the-middle 51% it is, then.
