20 Rules You Must Follow To Survive A Slasher Movie

6. Wear Appropriate Footwear

One of the biggest clichés of horror film generally, and slasher movies specifically, is the potential victim falling over at undoubtedly the most inconvenient of times. This is entirely avoidable, provided precautions are taken in advance. Firstly, fasten your shoelaces. That much is obvious. No-one wants to trip and land on a meat hook. Also, wear sneakers or hiking boots - definitely not high heels or platform shoes. It's probably better to go barefoot than wear something with a heel that is liable to snap. Lastly, try to bring a torch with you at all times. When running through the woods, it's far too easy to trip over a branch, or to step in a conveniently-placed bear-trap. As every slasher fan knows, the moment the victim trips is the moment that the killer catches them.
