18. Happy New Year
Yinsen would make another brief appearance in the MCU when he showed up in the New Years Eve flashback scene that opens Iron Man 3. True to egotistical form, Stark barely acknowledges him and only has eyes for scientist Maya Hansen; little does Tony know, someone else attending the conference in Bern will also come back to haunt him. Aldrich Killian (Guy Pearce) approaches Tony about his company Advanced Idea Mechanics and is duped into believing the two will meet to talk shop later that night. As instructed, the naïve Killian waits on the buildings rooftop for a meeting that will never take place and cuts a pitiful figure as he cowers in the shadows against a backdrop of fireworks.
