20 Serial Killer Movies You Must See Before You Die

13. The Chaser (2008)

Some films embrace a forward momentum so intense that they grip you to your very core the moment the movie starts all the way to the second the credits start to roll: South Korean serial killer flick The Chaser, written and directed by Na Hong-jin, is one such film. The story of The Chaser is essentially deployed in typical police procedural fashion, as a former cop turned pimp - played by Kim Yoon-seok - sets out to find the whereabouts of a weird client who he believes his selling his girls. Said client hasn't been selling them, of course: he has been brutally murdering them. This is a smart and suspenseful serial killer film based on a series of actual murders committed by a Korean murderer called Yoo Young-chul; the film is expertly directed, impeccably cast, and packed with action scenes that feel genuinely fresh. Don't miss it.
