20 Sick Cannibal Movies You Need To See Before You Die

5. Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street

It's kind of remarkable that there are two musicals about cannibalism in existence, but in addition to Cannibal! The Musical there's also the more famous Sweeney Todd, directed by Tim Burton and based on the popular broadway show of the same name. Of course Tim Burton would want to make this. Sweeney Todd follows a barber who murders people by slitting their throat with a razor and then bakes them into meat pies. Oh, and he also sings. When you think about it, this may be the strangest premise to ever makes its way into awards season. The movie is phenomenal, though, as visually stunning as anything in Burton's filmography. You just never want to stop looking at the scenery. He really gets across the dingy vibe of 18th century London, which Sweeney Todd himself describes as a "great black bit." Burton also nails the dark humor, and you'll find yourself laughing far more often than you'd expect to in a movie about people being made into pies. Emotionally compelling and with rich characters, catchy songs and plenty of gore, Sweeney Todd is for sure one of the top two musicals ever made about cannibals.
