20 Sick Cannibal Movies You Need To See Before You Die

2. Jungle Holocaust

The title and premise of Jungle Holocaust makes it sound like a blatant Cannibal Holocaust ripoff, but surprisingly this one came first. Released two years earlier, it follows a group of oil prospectors whose plane breaks down in the middle of the jungle. One of them is captured by a cannibal tribe, and that's where the movie's brutal torture sequences begin: he's stripped naked, tied up, and dropped on a bungie cord again and again. Luckily, one of the natives decides to help this guy escape, and he thanks her by...tying her up and raping her. Huh? Later, she's captured by the cannibals and they feed on her, so the movie punishes this girl for daring to help. Jungle Holocaust is particularly mean spirited, with even more gore than usual and with closeups of the tribe members eating organs while using rib cages to cook with. Once again there's real animal death, and this time you get to watch as an alligator is killed in an incredibly drawn out fashion. Assuming you stick around until then, that is. Still, this is actually one of the better jungle cannibal films that a lot of its successors clearly borrowed from, and the acting and dialogue are relatively solid for such a low budget production.
