20 Sick Cannibal Movies You Need To See Before You Die

17. Cannibal! The Musical

Long before South Park and The Book of Mormon there was Cannibal! The Musical, the first collaboration between Trey Parker and Matt Stone. They made the film while in college, and it features so much of what audiences would later embrace about the duo including witty songs and bleak humor. Cannibal! is based loosely on the real life story of a prospector named Alfred Packer, who ate five of his fellow travellers while on a journey from Utah to Colorado. Only Parker and Stone would think to not only turn that story into a comedy, but to turn it into a musical. The movie delivers right from the opening scene, which depicts Alferd eating a bunch of people alive, biting into one dude's neck and ripping his throat out. For a student film, the gore effects are rather impressive. From there, Alferd recounts his story of what really happened in court, claiming that the events weren't what we've been lead to believe. The music is super catchy, especially the opening song which introduces the completely made up word "shpadoinkle" without ever bothering to tell us what it means. Cannibal! The Musical is a little rough around the edges production wise, but the writing is as witty as anything Parker and Stone would churn out today.
