The Coen Brothers' lesser heralded dark comedy is a Jewish tour de force - it channels the spirit of Woody Allen, as well as playing on the directorial duos own religious identities to put together a beautifully black comedy with both sunshine and bitterness in equal measure.
And, though, they make claims that no Jews were harmed during filming, you have to seriously doubt the authenticity of their claim, considering the venom often aimed at their central character, but the self-aware nod fits with the tone of the film's comedy, and serves as a smile-raising final note to the pair's nuanced comic journey to self-exploration. Plus, it's pretty damn funny in its own right.
