20 Sports Documentaries You Must See Before You Die

8. Undefeated

One of the most joyous things about sports is that we occasionally get to see an underdog beat the odds. It's extremely satisfying watching a team that are terrible progressively get better until they're a formidable force. We've seen it in fictional movies - we contest that Mighty Ducks is the most underrated sports film of all time - but it's such a Hollywood-esque plot that something like that happening in real life feels highly unlikely.

However, if you watched the incredible football documentary, Undefeated, you might start to truly believe that situations like that can happen in real life. The film focuses on Memphis High School football team, the Mannasas Tigers and their lack of luck in winning games. To put it quite bluntly, they're a really, really bad team who had no real chance of victory.

However, the arrival of Bill Courtney turned everything around though. The highly-esteemed football coach somehow manages to turn them from lackadaisical losers to an exceptional team of athletes and academics. If you're partial to tears during emotional movies, then make sure you've got a tissue ready as this will certainly draw tears of happiness out of you.
