20 Sports Documentaries You Must See Before You Die

7. Dogtown And Z-Boys

We've already brought up Stacy Peralta on this list, following his influence on the incredible Bones Brigade skateboard team of the 1980s. However, someone had to lay the foundation for the likes of Tony Hawk, Rodney Mullen and co. to succeed and those pioneers were the Zephyr Skateboard team.

Otherwise known as the Z-Boys, this Southern California based crew of skateboarders were one of the main reasons the sport has gotten to the level it's at today. Peralta does a fantastic job of not only highlighting the key figures who helped bring the team into the mainstream, but everything they were willing to do make sure they could skate without getting into trouble.

Peralta has always done a fantastic job of capturing the footage that makes this sport as special and as downright dangerous as it is. By showcasing the likes of Jay Adams, Tony Alva and so many more, it gives attention to the individuals who planted the seeds and helped the sport grow into what it is today.
