20 Terrible Movies That Do NOT Deserve Their Fresh Rotten Tomatoes Scores

7. Iron Man 2

Score: 72% (Average Score: 6.50/10)

Consensus: It isn't quite the breath of fresh air that Iron Man was, but this sequel comes close with solid performances and an action-packed plot.

Sometimes, when a film is a disappointment, some people might go surprisingly easy on it because they don't want to admit they're feeling let down. It's no exaggeration to say most film fans have had that experience at some point - for example, your writer tried to fool himself into liking Game of Thrones' final season - and it's likely that this is what happened with Iron Man 2, the bitterly disappointing sequel to a much-loved superhero film.

Well, why else would it have got a good score?

With its unfunny jokes, snooze-inducing action scenes, hopelessly overstuffed plot and generally terrible screenplay, Iron Man 2 is a film so bad it could easily have killed the MCU altogether before it even really got started.

This is also another case where the critical consensus is laughable. Out of the stacked cast, the only ones who make any real impact are the ever-reliable Robert Downey Jr. and (to a lesser extent) Sam Rockwell, while the plot is about as far from action-packed as it gets. There are literally only two action scenes in this entire movie and both of them are terrible.

In other words, everything about this high score is a bit of a joke. And it's not the only terrible MCU film that somehow got a fresh score either...

Deserved Score: 30-50%.
