20 Terrible Movies That Do NOT Deserve Their Fresh Rotten Tomatoes Scores

18. Happy Death Day 2U

Thor The Dark World
Universal

Score: 71% (Average Score: 6.10/10)

Consensus: A funnier follow-up with a sci-fi bent, Happy Death Day 2U isn't as fiendishly fresh as its predecessor, but fans of the original may still find this a sequel worth celebrating.

Here's yet another lacklustre horror sequel that critics totally let off. In fact, it's actually got the same score as the thoroughly enjoyable original, despite the fact that it's worse in pretty much every conceivable way.

To be fair to Happy Death Day 2U, it's not without its moments and there are a few laughs, but on the whole, this film is just a total mess. It tries far too hard to do too many things and as a result, the movie's various different storylines all feel hopelessly undercooked.

In fact, the masked killer this movie was meant to be about is barely in evidence throughout so much of the picture, while the film's emotional storyline about grief feels incredibly forced. In the end, it's an even worse exploration of the concept of multiverses than the MCU's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness... and oh boy, that's saying something.

All in all, it's hard to know exactly what critics saw in this one. Let's just hope the upcoming third film is as fun as the first movie was.

Deserved Score: 40-59%.
