20 Things That Almost Completely Changed Harry Potter Movies
10. Dudley Almost Said Sorry
In the final book, there's a surprisingly touching moment at the outset as the Dursleys are spirited away into protection when Harry realises that Dudley has been leaving him cups of tea and trying to make his stay with the family better in the wake of Harry saving his life. The sequence offered Dudley a resolution to his own personal arc, and redeemed him somewhat from the torturous bully he had become, but ultimately it was dropped from the film when David Heyman decided it felt like they had too many beginnings. It was a sad cut - for Heyman as well - as it's actually one of the finer deleted scenes. JK Rowling subsequently confirmed that beyond the end of the books, the pair remained on Christmas card terms," and that Harry makes a conscious effort to visit his cousin's family, and while their children play, the cousins remain in silence.
