20 Things That Almost Completely Changed Harry Potter Movies
12. The Unfinished Telescope Story
In the first movie, there's an area visible in Dumbledore's office that houses a typically quirky looking telescope, which can be seen on the set tour, and on a DVD feature. Chris Columbus admitted in his DVD commentary that the telescope, which wasn't used in either of the first two films, would have been used in the third or fourth, but that was clearly abandoned when the he exited the directing chair. Quite how he would have brought that into the existing storyline remains unconfirmed.
11. Jarvis Cocker's Weird Sisters' Album
Despite being the second choice to play an in-universe pop act (Franz Ferdinand turned down the offer) Jarvis Cocker took to the role with gusto. He even had a special album planned, with guests like Franz Ferdinand themselves and Iggy Pop, but thanks to an ongoing lawsuit over the use of the name "Weird Sisters", to had to drop the plan. Canadian folk rock act Wyrd Sisters had attempted to sue Warner Bros for the use of a similar name, but were unsuccessful in their bid to get a slice of the Harry Potter pie.
