20 Things The X-Men Movies Actually Got Right
14. The Opening Of The Wolverine
Blending the X-Men with history is one of the ways the series has come across as very unique when compared to other contemporary superhero films and one of the most epic examples of this was in 2013's The Wolverine.
Starting in 1945, the scene begins with Logan in a POW camp near Nagasaki. This is right as Nagasaki is hit by the second atomic bomb, leading Logan to save an officer named Yashida. The sequence is beautifully shot with the blast very nearly engulfing our hero.
Logan throws Yashida into a well and holds the door shut while the blast hits. This completely burns Logan, leaving him a disfigured mess in front of the officer. The tone of this scene creates a very bleak yet exciting opening to Wolverine's second solo film.
