20 Things You Didn’t Know About Dune
7. It Has Some Very Famous Fans
With a novel as widely regarded as Dune is, it's unsurprising it has friends in high places. Some of Dune’s most notable champions include Stephen Colbert, the band Tool and Kanye West. We're just thankful the latter has not proclaimed himself Kwisatz Haderach on Twitter (yet).
Given that all celebrities do in fact 'like stuff' this really isn't that shocking, but Dune has a peculiar staying power that cuts it just slightly above other works of favourable fiction. Rapper/author/activist Akala has even stated he reads the book at least once a year. You can't say that about Captain Underpants.
Many of the famous fans of Dune went on to have a hand in the book’s various adaptations; the aforementioned James McAvoy, O.G. Paul Atreides Kyle Machlachan, our lord and saviour Denis Villeneuve and - in relation to this - Hans Zimmer who turned down working on Tenet with Chris Nolan to have a chance at being a part of the 2021 production.
