7. Don Cheadle Had Just An Hour To Accept The Role Of Rhodey
One of the major controversies surrounding Iron Man 2's release was the recasting of James Rhodes, who was played by Terrence Howard in the first movie and ultimately replaced with Don Cheadle due to a pay dispute.
And though Cheadle absolutely made the role his own, he was given only an extremely short window of time to consider the offer.
He said, "I was at my daughter's birthday party and I got a call and they said, 'OK, it's gonna happen. The offer is going to you. But we need this to happen kinda quickly, so we're gonna give you an hour to decide.' I said, 'An hour? It’s like eight movies!'"
Hilariously, Cheadle had no prior knowledge of Iron Man before seeing the first movie, to the extent that he thought Iron Man was actually a robot.
