20 Things You Didn’t Know About Live And Let Die (1973)

7. Is He Armed?

Tee Hee (Julius W. Harris) is a very distinctive henchman in the James Bond franchise, possessing not only a metal arm equipped with a powerful hook, but also a charming and menacing personality to go with it. As his name suggests, it's “funny how the least little thing amuses him”.

Whilst being a particularly effective weapon and one that gives his character a very fitting comeuppance during his final brush with Double-0 Seven, Tee Hee's metal arm was not the easiest device for Julius Harris to manage.

The metal arm and hook were fitted over Harris’s own shoulder and arm (he was not missing them in real life), but the pincers at the end of the prosthetic arm could only operate by regulating his breathing exactly - something that was incredibly difficult to do and which took some getting used to.

in the final film, it looks easy, but Tee Hee’s menace required a great deal of care and skill to perfect...or is that scare and kill?

I started writing for WhatCulture in July 2020. I have always enjoyed reading and writing. I have contributed to several short story competitions and I have occasionally been fortunate enough to have my work published. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I also started reviewing films on my Facebook page. Numerous friends and contacts suggested that I should start my own website for reviewing films, but I wanted something a bit more diverse - and so here I am! My interests focus on film and television mainly, but I also occasionally produce articles that venture into other areas as well. In particular, I am a fan of the under appreciated sequel (of which there are many), but I also like the classics and the mainstream too.
