4. Paul DePodesta Asked Bennett Miller To Remove His Name From The Film
The character of Peter Brand isn't actually a real person, but rather a composite based primarily on the A's former assistant to the general manager, Paul DePodesta.
After it became clear that the film's depiction of him was hewing closer to fiction than reality, DePodesta asked Miller to change the character's name, and though Miller had no legal obligation to do so, he agreed due to DePodesta's generosity as a consultant during filming.
And so, "Peter Brand" was born, in turn allowing DePodesta to retain his modesty.
