Due to Nicolas Cage's love and knowledge of Marvel, he seemed like a perfect fit for Into the Spider-Verse. So, it was no surprise when the the Face/Off star was cast in the film as Spider-Man Noir. (Interestingly, he was the very first person to be cast.)

Although Noir is brooding and morose in the source material, Cage wanted him to be more energetic, and so, channeled Humphrey Bogart into his performance. Because Bogie made a career out of noir roles, Cage believed his fast-talking manner suited the monochromatic detective.
