In Alien³, it is explained that all the convicts are bald due to a lice problem. David Fincher liked the way the actors all had shaved heads as it gave the cast a more distinctive look. (It also caused the production to earn the nickname "Skinheads in Space"). Even though some actresses would balk at the idea of shaving their noggin, the lead actress, Sigourney Weaver, agreed to it "as long as I get more money". Interestingly, Weaver seemed less bothered about chopping her hair off than some of the male actors.

Obviously, this was massive undertaking for Weaver since it would force her to wear a wig for other films while she waited for her hair to grow back to full length. But do you know what was worse than that? After she let her hair grow for a few months, she was called back to Alien³ to reshoot some scenes. This means she had to shave her head AGAIN! Because of this inconvenience, she was paid an extra $300,000.
