20 Things You Didn't Know About Aliens

3. Originally Amanda Ripley Was Alive And HATED Her Mum

Aliens had an extended and more visceral scene featuring the mother and daughter relationship. Originally, just after Ellen is rescued, she has a call with Amanda, who has reached old age and is bitter that Ellen never came back home despite her promise.

She tells her she hates her for abandoning her, and never speaks to her again. Rather harsh, as Ellen had been floating through space for fifty years, but there we go!

In the film, Amanda dies when Ripley is floating in hyperspace, and is informed of this by Burke. Of course, fan interest in Amanda's story led to the creation of Alien: Isolation, one of the best current generation horror video games.
