10. Author Bret Easton Ellis Didn't Care For The Film's Use Of Voiceover

Bret Easton Ellis was mostly happy with how the movie turned out, though stated that there were two elements he disliked: Christian Bale's improvised "moonwalk" while he murders Paul Allen, and the film's voiceover narration from Bateman.

Ellis felt that the voiceover was "too explicit," yet it feels like a bizarre complaint given that Bateman's narration is also a major narrative element of the novel.

And above all else, thanks to Bale's slimeball delivery, it works fantastically.
