No single piece of music is used in the movie more memorably than Huey Lewis and the News' "Hip to Be Square," which plays out as Bateman hacks Paul Allen to pieces.

It was naturally intended to be included on the movie's soundtrack CD, and was actually featured in the original manufacturing run, before it was discovered that Koch Records hadn't secured publishing rights to the song.

The label was then forced to recall and destroy 100,000 copies of the album, with Koch claiming that it was in fact due to Huey Lewis objecting to his song being used in such a violent film.

Lewis, meanwhile, has repeatedly denied this claim, calling it "totally made up." Either way, it resulted in major egg on the face of Koch Records given the immense costs involved in manufacturing and then destroying such a large volume of unusable stock.
