20 Things You Didn't Know About Batman Returns

12. DeVito Refused A Body Double

DeVito took his commitment above and beyond in other ways too.

In the scene where the Penguin is pelted with rotten food by a furious mob, about an hour and a half into the film, the actor refused a body double and instead opted to take a face full of all kinds of nasty stuff.

And this wasn't the only food related bit of trivia.

When Selina Kyle, Catwoman’s non-sticky fingered real life persona, is knocked out cold at one point in the film, her unconscious body is surrounded by a gaggle of feline on-lookers.

In order to get the cats to actually approach Michelle Pfeiffer for the necessary shot, filmmakers stuffed her suit full of tuna. John West would be proud.
