20 Things You Didn't Know About Batman & Robin

3. It's One Of Only Two Batman Movies That Didn't Get Nominated For An Oscar

It shouldn't come as much of a surprise that Batman & Robin didn't make many waves during awards season, but it nonetheless became the first Batman movie that failed to pick up a single Academy Award nomination, an unfortunate accolade that wouldn't be repeated until The Dark Knight Rises was similarly snubbed fifteen years later.

The first movie won for Best Art Direction, Batman Returns was nominated for Makeup and Visual Effects, and Batman Forever scored three nods for Best Cinematography, Sound and Sound Editing. Batman Begins also picked up a solitary nomination for Best Cinematography, while Heath Ledger's posthumous victory in the Best Supporting Actor Category for The Dark Knight was the movie's only win from eight nominations.

It seems that if you're the last Batman movie released before the character gets rebooted, you don't get much love at the Oscars.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
