20 Things You Didn't Know About Charlize Theron

2. She Has Extreme OCD

Most actors out there are notorious for their quirks - from Daniel Day Lewis' extreme method acting to Harrison Ford's lack of giving a sh*t when talking to press (or flying, for that matter). Theron suffers from an extreme case of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, to the point where she cannot relax in a rented room or house during a shoot without checking every drawer and closet.

It sounds a little quirky, but she's learned to work with it when approaching a role. "Once I say yes to something, I become super-obsessed about it – and I have an obsessive nature in general. How I want to play it starts at that moment. It's a very lonely, internal experience. I think about [the character] all the time – I observe things, I see things and file things [in my head], everything geared to what I'm going to do. I'm obsessed with the human condition. You read the script and become obsessed with [a character's] nature, her habits".
