As much as Nolan is highly respected by his Hollywood peers, he nevertheless came to blows with director David O. Russell in 2003 after he offered Jude Law a role in The Prestige.

Law abandoned Russell's project I Heart Huckabees for Nolan's bigger-scale production, after which The New York Times reported that Russell found Nolan at an industry party and, in full view of guests, put him a headlock while demanding that he give up Law to help "save" his own movie.

The next day, Law apparently called Russell and returned to his project without any mention of Nolan whatsoever. Neither filmmaker appears to harbour hard feelings, though, given that Russell and Nolan have been happily snapped together at awards dinners over the years.
