20 Things You Didn't Know About Dr. No

6. The Death Of A Homeowner

Sean Connery Dr No

The assassination of Strangways and his loyal secretary, Mary Trueblood is quite shocking, both for the time when the film was made and now; it is sudden, brutal, and remorseless.

It is also a good example of reality crossing over with fantasy as, even though the filmmakers placed a letterbox on the gateway of a Kingston house claiming that Strangways lived there, the house was actually owned by Dolores Keator and rented for the two sequences in which it appears.

Perhaps as a thank you from the producers, Keator was given the brief but memorable role of Mary Trueblood. Moreover, even though Eunice Gayson, Lois Maxwell, Marguerite LeWars, Zena Marshall, and Ursula Andress shared screen time with Sean Connery, Dolores Keator is actually the first Bond Girl seen onscreen.

I started writing for WhatCulture in July 2020. I have always enjoyed reading and writing. I have contributed to several short story competitions and I have occasionally been fortunate enough to have my work published. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I also started reviewing films on my Facebook page. Numerous friends and contacts suggested that I should start my own website for reviewing films, but I wanted something a bit more diverse - and so here I am! My interests focus on film and television mainly, but I also occasionally produce articles that venture into other areas as well. In particular, I am a fan of the under appreciated sequel (of which there are many), but I also like the classics and the mainstream too.
