20 Things You Didn't Know About Dr. No

The film's ending is a classic staple of the action-adventure genre. Indeed, many Bond films feature him cast adrift at sea with his leading lady.

Having thwarted Dr. No and destroyed the madman's lair, James Bond is stranded in the Caribbean with Honey Ryder when Felix Leiter arrives with some U.S. Marines. Not in the mood for being rescued, Bond and Honey opt to remain lost together for a few more hours.

However, in the closing shots of the film, it is clear that there is a buoy marking a shipping lane a few hundred yards behind their boat, meaning that they are nowhere near being stranded.

Although this is a bit of an anomaly in the film itself, the end sequence was actually filmed in Saint Ann's Bay, Jamaica, the same port from which Professor R.J. Dent (Anthony Dawson) set off on his voyage to Crab Key earlier in the film.

I started writing for WhatCulture in July 2020. I have always enjoyed reading and writing. I have contributed to several short story competitions and I have occasionally been fortunate enough to have my work published. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I also started reviewing films on my Facebook page. Numerous friends and contacts suggested that I should start my own website for reviewing films, but I wanted something a bit more diverse - and so here I am! My interests focus on film and television mainly, but I also occasionally produce articles that venture into other areas as well. In particular, I am a fan of the under appreciated sequel (of which there are many), but I also like the classics and the mainstream too.
