20 Things You Didn't Know About Dr. No

Dr. No establishes several of the famous faces who would have long-term roles in the franchise, as well as other actors in the British film industry of the time who would continue to have fleeting brushes with the series.

Milton Reid portrays one of Dr. No's guards in the dinner scene between Double-0 Seven and the madman, and restrains Bond whilst he receives a beating from another of the doctor's men.

A professional wrestler, Reid tried to secure the role of Oddjob in Goldfinger by challenging Harold Sakata to a wrestling match. However, as Reid had already appeared in Dr. No, the producers chose Sakata instead and the match never took place.

Milton Reid appeared as a temple guard in the outrageous 1967 Bond spoof, Casino Royale, before returning to the official Bond franchise in The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) as the “helpful chap”, Sandor, who falls from a Cairo rooftop.

I started writing for WhatCulture in July 2020. I have always enjoyed reading and writing. I have contributed to several short story competitions and I have occasionally been fortunate enough to have my work published. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I also started reviewing films on my Facebook page. Numerous friends and contacts suggested that I should start my own website for reviewing films, but I wanted something a bit more diverse - and so here I am! My interests focus on film and television mainly, but I also occasionally produce articles that venture into other areas as well. In particular, I am a fan of the under appreciated sequel (of which there are many), but I also like the classics and the mainstream too.
