13. Albert Brooks Shaved His Eyebrows To Play Bernie Rose

Albert Brooks gives by far the most acclaimed performance in the movie as ice-cool Jewish mobster Bernie Rose, a role which flew in the face of Brooks' typical comedy work and for which he received extensive awards buzz (which sadly never resulted in an Oscar nomination).

But in order to appear more emotionless, Brooks did one very simple thing to subtly alter his appearance - he shaved his eyebrows.

It's easy to miss when you're watching the film because Brooks' sheer presence and tone of voice are so captivating throughout anyway, but it was nevertheless a clever way to make Bernie feel just a little more "off."
