20 Things You Didn't Know About Drive

12. The Opening Credits Song "Nightcall" Was Suggested By Editor Matthew Newman

Drive's aforementioned opening titles sequence is set to the now-iconic Kavinsky song "Nightcall," which so perfectly sets the mood for the rest of the movie.

And while Refn has proven himself to have an impeccable ear for great music throughout his filmography, in this case he can't really take credit for including the song.

The suggestion was actually made by the movie's editor, Matthew Newman, who according to Refn is an expert in electronic music and would find pieces for Refn to choose from.

Refn went on to call Newman a "very good, close collaborator," and considering how he was so thoroughly responsible for creating one of the movie's most memorable moments, you'd sure like to think so. Newman continues to be Refn's trusty editor to this very day.
