17. Al Pacino's Iconic One-Liner Was Improvised

One of the most memorable moments in the entire 170-minute movie is Pacino's hilarious outburst to Marciano (Hank Azaria), "Because she's got a...great ass! And you've got your head all the way up it!"

It's an hilarious example of classic swinging-for-the-fences Al Pacino, and on the film's DVD commentary, Mann confirmed that this was entirely improvised by the legendary actor. Azaria confirmed this, adding that it "scared the hell" out of him.

Better still, in 2016 Pacino confirmed that cut scenes from the film depicted Hanna's cocaine addiction, hence explaining some of his more, er, "animated" moments throughout the film.
