In one of the film's first few scenes, Rob greets his employee Dick (Todd Louiso), who mentions that he "found the first Licorice Comfits album over at Vintage Vinyl."

It's first worth mentioning that the Licorice Comfits are not actually a real band, but a fake carry-over from Hornby's novel - though, being a Brit, he spelled the outfit as "Liquorice Comfits."

The record store Vintage Vinyl, however, is a real store located in Evanston, Illinois, which just so happens to be the hometown of - you guessed it - John Cusack himself. Better still, the store remains open to this very day.
