18. Kate Winslet Was Approached To Play Mal
Mal, Dom's deceased wife who constantly haunts him, was played by Marion Cotillard in the final product, but the film very nearly ended up reuniting Leonardo DiCaprio on-screen with Kate Winslet.
Reportedly, Winslet was originally approached to play Mal. However, she turned it down, with the reason being that she just couldn't see herself as the character.
Ultimately, Cotillard got the part instead. She gave an excellent performance as Mal, though, so this wasn't so bad a turnout.
But for you Titanic fans disappointed that a reunion between DiCaprio and Winslet could have happened in Inception, it just wan't meant to be.
Eventually the two did share the screen again in Revolutionary Road a couple years earlier.
