Despite Nolan's movies being more mature than a lot of other blockbusters, whether that's because of violence and threat (The Dark Knight, Dunkirk) or heady sci-fi concepts (Inception, Tenet), his releases always fall in the 12/12a rating categories.

And despite the fact that those family-suitable ratings generally allow for an f-bomb to be dropped, Nolan hasn't always taken advantage of that.

In fact, when Interstellar was released in 2014, it contained the first Nolan f-bomb since 2002's Insomnia, which, at the time of writing, is also the last Nolan movie to receive a 15 certificate from the BBFC.

The Interstellar f-bomb in question occurs when Cooper calls Mann a "f***ing coward", shortly after Mann betrays him.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
